My Thoughts While Watching #ALLMYMOVIES

First, I have to admit that I haven't tuned into all of #ALLMYMOVIES. I didn't start watching until around noon yesterday, so by that point, Shia had been watching his movies for close to 24 hours. All in all I'm sure that I haven't tuned in to more than 8 hours of the world's most meta livestream. But I'm proud to say that I feel like I'm acting as the perfect Bystander in this situation.

In case some of you don't know, Shia LaBeouf has been watching his own movies (in reverse chronological order) since Tuesday (November 10th) at noon. #ALLMYMOVIES is a performance art piece the actor created together with artists Luke Turner and Nastja Sade Ronkko. You can either try to get into the Angelika Film Center in New York to watch with him for free, or watch the live stream of his face. Though there are only two movies left on the schedule, so click to it quickly.

Some might say that this "art piece" is self absorbed, but as a fellow artist, I'd say that LaBeouf's #ALLMYMOVIES project is brave. He's watching his own movies with strangers, hearing their feedback live, and he's unable to change anything that's happening on screen. That takes balls. Throw in the fact that twitter is abuzz with sometimes ridiculous, but mostly positive feedback as well, and I have to give LaBeouf props for putting his own reactions to his career online for everyone to see.

He hasn't been impressed with everything he's watched. That's completely clear. It's also clear that 29 year old Shia Labeouf loves baby Shia LaBeouf's movies just as much as well do. The man smiled, giggled, and laughed through most of Holes, and The Even Stevens Movie. And why wouldn't he?

The camera that's been pointed at his face for almost 72 hours has also shown that the actor is really into sharing his snacks. Holes turned into a pizza party. One that I'd like to say I attended, but since I'm on the other side of the country, that didn't happen. He's also taken a ton of selfies with fans, shaken a ton of hands, and interacted with the crowd. Plus, he's really into Sour Patch Kids, and how can you not like someone who eats Sour Patch Kids

Sure, LaBeouf has fallen asleep through some movies. And I'm really bummed that Constantine played so late last night, because I would have been down to watch it together with the thousands of people who were all watching it with LaBeouf via livestream, but sadly, I needed sleep.

It's fascinating that we live in a world where #ALLMYMOVIES can exist. It's bringing so many people together, and giving us an insider look into what it's like for an artist to examine all of his work under a microscope. I for one think Shia LaBeouf deserves mad props for coming up with #ALLMYMOVIES and then sharing it with the rest of the world.

If you feel so inclined you can also check out my twitter feed to see what I was live tweeting while watching. I might have made a few Edward Cullen references.
